My name is Roger Christensen and I grew up in a small town called Clio, MI. My family consist of my mother Regina and father Roger, along with my three sisters Sasha, Shanel, and Khirsten. I attended High School there and afterwards attended Mott Community College for the next two years. Baseball is what took me to Mott and what brought me to Tiffin University as well. I am a die hard baseball guy and will always have love for the game.
More on the business side of things I'm very interested in becoming an Athletic Director someday, preferably at the College level. My love and passion for sports and coaching I feel are the beginning steps in making me an excellent Athletic Director in the future. I understand it's a long tough road to become Athletic Director; as long with the pressure and stress put on you to not only run successful programs but to bring in money through the athletic department as well. Being able to have control over the Athletics and help run a College/High School is a job in which I'd enjoy.
An Athletic Director is in charge of a lot of different things and most of it is behind the scenes such as the contracts of referees, writing checks, fundraising, etc. I understand it isn't a glory job and that's not why I'm getting into it. I want to be surrounded by sports for the rest of my life and I'm not sure there's a better feeling seeing a kids progress from his freshman year to his senior year. Watching kids grow up and prosper knowing that I helped him/her not only become the best they can be at their sports but as a person is a reward itself.
Upon graduation I attend on becoming a Graduate Assistant for a baseball program in the Michigan/Ohio area. I'm hoping for a position that at the least allows me to work for my Master's and possibly work on my minor in psychology. The goal is to go to a successful program where I can learn from someone who has been in the Coaching atmosphere for some time now and I can learn the other side of the game rather than playing. This experience and the opportunity to obtain my Master's and gain experience in the field that I wish to get into someday would truly be a perfect fit for me right after graduation.
